According to recent published reports, rap duo OutKast has turned down an invitation to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show in September.
Despite the recent criticism Oprah has endured from top artists like Ludacris and Ice Cube, Fox News reports that the duo’s decision had nothing to do with her alleged distaste of rap music. Instead, the decline was allegedly the result of a failure on the part of OutKast members Andre 3000 and Big Boi to agree on the promotion for their Idlewild film and soundtrack.
The decision to turn down Oprah is fuels rumors that the OutKast group members are now at odds.
The Idlewild movie musical, slated to be released August 22, sets the duo as musicians in a southern speakeasy in the 1930s, sort of a "Cotton Club" with Ving Rhames, Terrence Howard, Cicely Tyson, Patti Labelle, Macy Gray and Ben Vereen co-starring.
In addition to Idlewild, Benjamin will also appear in the film Revolver which was directed by Guy Ritchie, and lend his voice to the animated series "Class of 3000" on the Cartoon Network this fall.
