DANITY KANE

Between the hook-ups, the drama and the hardwork, Diddy’s Danity Kane - Dawn, Aubrey, D. Woods, Shannon, and Aundrea - went beyond everyone’s expectations on their debut album and hit platinum status.

This time around on their second album, the girls will join the MTB4 quintet and solo artist Donnie in the same house to begin working on their respective albums. If you watched the season premiere of Making the Band 4, you know there’s a whole lot of madness that goes along with sticking five girls and 6 boys in a house together.

Recently, the ladies pulled it together long enough to answer five questions fans wanted to know.

What will viewers see on this season of Diddy’s Making the Band?

Dawn:  You’ll see Danity Kane arguing and fighting for what we believe in and hopefully you will love the product…..[It’s] boys and girls in the same house in Miami, I mean, come on.

Aubrey:  [We worked with] Brian Cox, Scott Storch, the Runners, The Stereotypes, Danja. We’re coming into ourselves on this record. We got to write on the album as well and we are so excited to get it out there.

Dawn: We wanted to prove [ourselves] to people. Even though you saw us, we weren’t really giving it to you last album and we’ve come into our own now.

What was your mission this time around on the second album, DAMAGED?

Dawn: For us it was making sure our creative views were taken seriously. As artists it’s hard to get your view and your creative process taken seriously….In the end, [Diddy] respected our vision and we finally got it across. We have a great album now, but it was hard to get everyone on the page that we were on.

How did you deal with the media scrutiny after recording your first album?

Aubrey: Its unfortunate that we’ve had to go through struggles, but we don’t look at them as our downfall, we look at all of them as things that have given us strength and character. We’re women and were honest about our struggles and we had a situation where we were built on a rocky foundation and we had to get it right. So, as with anything in life, you have to rebuild, start over, start from scratch. You’ve got to know exactly what you’re working with and standing on and we’re really the truth. We don’t hide anything from the media or from each other and were girls- girls struggle and they get through things and were definitely a clear example of women who put music and the power of what women can do before any ego or pride.

It’s like family at the end of the day. Sometimes you love them, sometimes you hate them.

Who had it harder on Making the Band – the boys or the girls?

Aubrey: We watched their season. We definitely went through more.

How did your family react?

Aubrey: Everyone’s family had different reactions. Mine didn’t really mind, but Dreas family was like ‘stay true to yourself, and were a little worried, but you know were all like brothers and sisters except for a few people. We’re all just a big family.
